South Gloucestershire Council appoints DTW Vavasour to handle communications

South Gloucestershire Council has appointed local government PR specialists DTW Vavasour to handle the communications issues arising from a three-year change programme.

The planned changes all relate to modern work practices and accommodation for the staff employed by the Council - mainly in three centres at Thornbury, Yate and Kingswood.

DTW Vavasour Director Robin Treacher is to provide strategic advice as well as 'hands-on' services to bolster the Council's small in-house public relations team led by Valerie McFarlane.

Treacher said: "There is a flagship scheme to build a new office complex outside Yate capable of accommodating almost 1,000 staff. The Council is taking this opportunity to review best practice in terms of working conditions and is questioning the traditional 9-5, one desk for everybody approach.

"This means we have a communications job to do for staff and the public."

McFarlane added: "These changes will give the public better access to Council services which in the medium term will save the Council money as well. However, our first concern is to ensure staff understand this is not a threat to their daily routines."

Ends.
